Delhi: Union Minister of State and President of the Republican Party of India (Athawale), Dr. Ramdas Athawale, addressed recent criticisms regarding budget allocations and the central government's approach to regional demands. In his remarks, Athawale defended the Union Budget and refuted claims made by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Athawale highlighted that both Bihar and Andhra Pradesh have been major focus areas in recent fiscal policies. "Bihar had been demanding special status for a long time. It was also decided that a special package would be given to Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation," he stated. He noted that the Union Budget has allocated significant resources to address the needs of these states, reflecting the government’s commitment to supporting regional development.

Addressing concerns about national unity, Athawale emphasized that the government’s budgetary provisions are designed to benefit the entire country, including states like West Bengal. He remarked, "In the Budget, the two states have been helped more but this Budget benefits the entire nation including West Bengal. Our government has not tried to divide the nation. So, what Mamata ji is saying is not right."

Athawale’s comments come in response to criticisms from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who has alleged that recent budgetary allocations and policies are creating regional disparities. Athawale countered these assertions by highlighting the inclusive nature of the Budget, which aims to address the needs of various states while promoting national unity.

The Union Minister's defense underscores the central government’s stance on ensuring equitable development across the country, while also addressing specific regional concerns. His remarks reflect an effort to clarify the government’s position and reinforce its commitment to balanced and inclusive growth.
