Union Ministers Unveil Ambitious Plans in Launch of 4th Tranche Auction for Critical Minerals

Union Minister of Coal and Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, accompanied by Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, launched the 4th tranche of auction for critical and strategic minerals today in a ceremony held at Scope Convention Centre, CGO Complex, New Delhi. The event marked a significant milestone in India's efforts to harness its mineral wealth and bolster the resource sector's contribution to economic growth.

The launch event featured several important announcements aimed at streamlining mineral exploration and promoting sustainable mining practices. Key highlights included the unveiling of 21 blocks rich in critical minerals across six states: Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. These blocks encompass a diverse array of minerals such as Graphite, Glauconite, Phosphorite, Potash, Nickel, Platinum Group Elements (PGE), Phosphate, and Rare Earth Elements (REE).

Of particular note, 11 of these blocks are newly introduced, presenting fresh opportunities for exploration and development. Additionally, the auction includes 10 blocks designated as "second attempt" from previous tranches, located in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu. These blocks are known to contain critical minerals including Tungsten, Vanadium, Graphite, Glauconite, Cobalt, and Nickel.

During his address, Union Minister Shri G. Kishan Reddy emphasized the strategic importance of these minerals in advancing various industrial sectors and ensuring energy security. He highlighted the government's commitment to fostering a conducive environment for investment, innovation, and sustainable development in the mining sector.

"The launch of the 4th tranche of auction underscores our goal to optimize India's mineral resources for economic growth and technological advancement," stated Minister Shri Satish Chandra Dubey. He outlined initiatives aimed at enhancing transparency and efficiency in the allocation of mining blocks, thereby attracting both domestic and international investment.

The ceremony also witnessed the announcement of schemes to support exploration efforts, including partial reimbursement of exploration expenses and the sanctioning of funds to Research & Development (R&D) institutes involved in mineral research.

The launch of the auction is expected to stimulate economic activity in the mining sector, create employment opportunities, and bolster India's self-reliance in critical minerals essential for various high-tech industries.
