Ahead of National Sports Day on August 29, Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has urged citizens across the country to engage in outdoor sports and physical activities. His call to action comes in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s encouragement to embrace a healthy and active lifestyle.

In a recent statement, Mandaviya highlighted the significance of National Sports Day, emphasizing the importance of physical fitness and sportsmanship. “National Sports Day is just around the corner,” Mandaviya said. “As Prime Minister Modi has aptly put it, 'Aap kheloge, aap khiloge'—if you play, you will thrive. Therefore, I encourage everyone to participate in your favorite outdoor game on August 29 and keep yourself fit.”

Mandaviya’s remarks underline the government's commitment to promoting sports and physical fitness as integral components of a healthy lifestyle. National Sports Day, celebrated annually on August 29 to honor the birth anniversary of hockey legend Dhyan Chand, is an occasion to celebrate and encourage sports activities across the nation.

The Sports Minister’s appeal aims to inspire people of all ages to take part in physical exercises and outdoor sports, thereby fostering a culture of health and wellness. By participating in sports on this special day, individuals can contribute to a broader movement towards a more active and healthier society.

In addition to individual participation, various events and activities are planned across the country to mark National Sports Day. These events are expected to include sports competitions, fitness workshops, and community sports initiatives, reflecting a nationwide effort to celebrate and promote physical activity.

As National Sports Day approaches, Mandaviya’s call for widespread participation serves as a reminder of the importance of integrating sports into daily life and the positive impact it can have on both physical and mental well-being.
