In a significant show of commitment to environmental sustainability, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, along with their spouses, participated in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign by planting saplings at ASITA, an ecological site along the River Yamuna in Delhi.

Vice President Dhankhar, accompanied by his wife Sudesh Dhankhar, took part in the tree-planting initiative, emphasizing the importance of such environmental efforts. "The act of planting trees is not just about greening our surroundings but also about nurturing the future of our planet," said Dhankhar. The couple’s involvement underscores the campaign’s goal of increasing green cover and promoting ecological conservation.

Delhi LG VK Saxena and his wife Sangita Saxena also joined in the planting activity, demonstrating their support for the campaign. LG Saxena highlighted the role of such initiatives in improving urban environmental quality. "Planting trees along the River Yamuna is a step towards enhancing our city’s green spaces and combating the effects of climate change," Saxena remarked.

The 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to encourage widespread participation in environmental preservation through tree planting. This campaign has seen extensive involvement across the country, with various leaders and citizens contributing to the cause.

The planting of saplings at ASITA, a site known for its ecological significance, aligns with broader efforts to restore and maintain the health of natural habitats along the Yamuna River. The initiative not only contributes to the city’s green cover but also supports local biodiversity and ecological balance.
