The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started raiding at least nine premises of senior Congress leader P Chidambaram's son Karti across Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai on Tuesday morning in connection with a new case of illegal gratification registered against him. These include three locations in Mumbai.

According to CBI officials, they have booked Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Karti for allegedly receiving foreign remittance for companies directly or indirectly linked to him.

Soon Karti took to Twitter, saying, "I have lost count. How many times has it been?"

His office also confirmed that the CBI is conducting searches at the residences and offices of Karti.

Earlier in 2017, the CBI had conducted raids at the residences of former finance minister Chidambaram and his son Karti in connection with criminal misconduct in a grant of Foreign Investment Promotion Board approval. At least 14 locations in Chidambaram's home city of Chennai were searched by the CBI then.

Meanwhile, police have been deployed outside Chidambaram's residence in Chennai while the CBI searches multiple locations for his son on Tuesday.
