New Delhi: Meetings under the BRICS track on ICT cooperation commenced in Pune under India’s BRICS chairmanship. The proceedings began with the 7th Meeting of the BRICS Working Group on ICT Cooperation, during which all member nations presented their views.
All member nations shared their opening remarks at the ICT track meeting held under India’s BRICS presidency. On this occasion, Mr. Amit Agarwal, Secretary of the Department of Telecommunications, welcomed the delegations and outlined the theme “Innovate, Cooperate and Transform (ICT) for a Resilient Future” along with its four pillars.
The BRICS Institute of Future Networks Council met to assess the progress of its designated national chapters. The meeting also involved discussions on information received from various study groups working on topics such as artificial intelligence, next-generation communication, the use of the Internet in Industry 4.0, and exposure to electromagnetic fields.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Amit Agarwal, Secretary of the Department of Telecommunications, stated that this inauguration marks the beginning of a significant week under the BRICS ICT track. He highlighted the months of collaboration facilitated through working group meetings, webinars, and expert discussions that enabled members to share experiences, align priorities, and set the agenda.
In the concluding phase of the meeting, the working group discussed key issues related to various ICT pillars, survey responses, and concept notes submitted by member countries. Deliberations under the BRICS ICT track will continue today with meetings on Digital Public Infrastructure and the Digital BRICS Task Force.
