New Delhi: India hosted the 13th AITIGA Joint Committee and related meetings in New Delhi from July 6–10, 2026, to review the progress of AITIGA negotiations in a hybrid format. To deepen cooperation, mutual understanding, and constructive dialogue between India and ASEAN, meetings of the three sub-committees of the AITIGA Joint Committee—covering Customs Procedures and Trade Facilitation, National Treatment and Market Access, and Rules of Origin—are being held alongside the 13th Joint Committee meeting.
The Joint Committee provided strategic guidance to the sub-committees to accelerate the process of finalizing the pending chapters of the AITIGA review and assigned time-bound tasks to achieve concrete results through mutual coordination.
The 13th AITIGA Joint Committee meeting held on July 7, 2026, was co-chaired by Mr. Nitin Kumar Yadav, Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Ms. Mastura Ahmad Mustafa, Deputy Secretary General , Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, Malaysia. Delegations from all ASEAN member countries—Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam—participated in the meeting.
ASEAN remains one of India’s key trading partners, accounting for approximately 11 percent of India’s global trade. Bilateral trade between India and ASEAN reached US$ 128 billion during 2025-26, reflecting the strong economic partnership between the two sides and offering further opportunities to enhance trade and investment cooperation.
