New Delhi: The Ministry of Jal Shakti will organize an all-India conference of the most senior secretaries from the Water Resources Departments of States and Union Territories on July 13, 2026, to review key programs in the water sector and strengthen Centre-State coordination.
The conference, organized by the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation (DoWR, RD & GR), will take place at Chanakya Hall, Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi. The meeting will be chaired by Union Minister of Jal Shakti Shri C R Patil, with Minister of State Shri Raj Bhushan Choudhary and Secretary, DoWR, RD & GR, Shri V.L. Kantha Rao, serving as co-chairs.
The conference will bring together senior officials from States, Union Territories, and key organizations including the Central Water Commission (CWC), National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) and National Water Mission (NWM).
The discussions will cover key priorities in the water sector, including the M-CADWM Scheme, the #CatchTheRain campaign, updated project appraisal guidelines, dam safety initiatives, the State Water Reforms Framework, progress in the irrigation census, and the proposed Model State Water Awards.
This meeting will provide a vital platform for states and Union Territories to share best practices, deliberate on implementation challenges, and strengthen collaborative efforts towards sustainable water management. The discussions will also focus on the effective implementation of national programs and the formulation of coordinated strategies to achieve shared goals in the water sector.
