New Delhi: MeitY Startup Hub (MSH) has launched the ‘GENESIS Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) Cohort 3’. GENESIS EIR 3.0 was Launched at the GENESIS NextGen Startup Summit held in Rathinam Global University Coimbatore on August 4, 2026, this national program offers students, innovators, researchers, and early-stage founders the opportunity to develop their ideas into technology-based startups. Applications for the program are now open.
GENESIS EIR 3.0 is part of the GENESIS (Gen-Next Support for Innovative Startups) initiative, which aims to identify and nurture new startups, particularly in Tier-II and Tier-III cities. Its Entrepreneur-in-Residence programme offers funding and incubation support to students, innovators and early-stage entrepreneurs, helping turn ideas into pilot-ready solutions.

GENESIS NextGen Startup Summit – Coimbatore Edition
GENESIS EIR 3.0 invites applications from Indian citizens—including entrepreneurs, innovators, researchers, students, and founders or co-founders of early-stage startups—working on technology-based innovations. The program supports emerging solutions in areas such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Internet of Things (IoT), Semiconductor and VLSI technology, Cybersecurity, Blockchain, Quantum technology, and Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Spatial, and Immersive technologies.
Applications for GENESIS EIR 3.0 Cohort-3 are open from August 4 to September 3. The program invites early-stage innovations falling within the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 1–4, spanning from the idea and proof-of-concept stages to prototypes, MVPs, and initial validation. Participating startups must be less than two years old and based in Tier-II or Tier-III cities. Additionally, the proposed idea or startup should not have received financial assistance exceeding ₹10 lakh under any central or state government scheme.
Expanding Startup Opportunities Beyond Major Cities
With a total budget of ₹490 crore, the GENESIS scheme aims to strengthen India’s startup ecosystem by bringing opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship to Tier-II and Tier-III cities. The scheme consolidates various funding facilities—including Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR), pilot, investment, and deep-tech—to support startups and innovators at different stages of their journey.
Under the EIR scheme, eligible innovators, students, and entrepreneurs can receive financial assistance of up to ₹10 lakh per startup to transform early-stage ideas and prototypes into pilot-ready solutions. This comprehensive scheme is designed to provide support across the entire journey from ideation and experimentation to validation, investment, and scale-up, helping promising ventures enter the market and grow.
