The Indian women’s kabaddi team successfully retained its Asian Games title by defeating Iran 37-34 in a thrilling final held on September 26 at the Tokai Citizen Gymnasium in Aichi-Nagoya.
With this victory, India secured its fourth gold medal in women’s kabaddi in the history of the Asian Games.
India made a strong start and led 22-16 at half-time. Iran, the 2018 champions, mounted a determined comeback in the second half and repeatedly reduced India’s lead. However, the Indian team maintained its composure in the closing stages to secure a 37-34 victory and retain the gold medal.
The match was a tight contest from the very beginning, with both teams level at 5-5 in the early stages. Subsequently, India established a six-point lead before half-time through crucial raids and tackles. Iran continued to attempt a comeback in the second half, but India secured vital points in the final minutes to maintain their lead and win the gold medal.
With this victory, India has retained its women’s kabaddi title and won another gold medal for the country at the 2026 Asian Games.
