On Tuesday, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) declared the results of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2026, for admission to the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination; 1,046 candidates qualified against 80 vacancies. The shortlisted candidates have qualified based on the screening test held on May 24. However, their candidature remains provisional and is subject to the fulfillment of further formalities prescribed by the Commission.
The UPSC has stated that candidates must log in to its online portal during a timeframe to be announced later. They will need to complete necessary tasks, such as paying the examination fee, providing or updating details regarding a scribe and assistive devices, and indicating cadre preferences. Candidates belonging to exempted categories—such as women, SC, ST, and PwBD candidates—will not be required to pay the ₹200 fee.
The Commission emphasized that all eligible candidates must update or re-confirm their details and submit the online application form so that e-admit cards for the Main Examination can be issued. Failure to do so will render them ineligible to participate in the next stage of the selection process.
The Commission clarified that the screening test marks, cut-off scores, and answer keys will be released only after the completion of both the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2026 and the Civil Services Examination, 2026. Candidates seeking information or clarification regarding the results may contact the UPSC Facilitation Centre between 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
