New Delhi: Former Under-17 world champion Neha Sangwan continued her impressive progress on the senior circuit by winning the gold medal in the women’s 59kg category at the Polyak Imre, Varga Janos, and Kozma Istvan Memorial Senior Ranking Tournament on Friday, taking India’s medal tally to eight.

Aman Sehrawat won the men’s 57kg freestyle title on the opening day, Neha Sangwan won India’s second gold medal of the tournament by defeating USA’s Abigail E. Nette 6-4 in a hard-fought final.

India won two more medals in the women’s 62kg category. Manasi Ahlawat had to withdraw from the final match against Canada’s Ana P. Godinez Gonzalez due to an injury and had to settle for the silver medal, while Savita won the bronze medal by defeating Kazakhstan’s Irina Kuznetsova 14-5 in the bronze medal bout.

Earlier in the competition, Hansika Lamba earned silver in the women’s 55kg category, while Deepak (61kg), Vishal Kaliraman (65kg), and Rajat Ruhal (125kg) claimed bronze medals in men’s freestyle.
