New Delhi: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said on Friday that India attracted a record $94.53 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) during FY 2025-26, bringing the total FDI inflow since FY 2014-15 to $843 billion.
The Minister shared these figures on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of the ‘Make in India’ initiative and highlighted the growth in investment and manufacturing activities over the past decade.
Goyal also highlighted the impact of the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. By March 31, 2026, these schemes had attracted actual investments worth ₹2.40 lakh crore, while production and sales under the program stood at ₹23.8 lakh crore. Exports reached ₹15.2 lakh crore, and the schemes generated over 14.6 lakh direct and indirect jobs.
The PLI program has boosted investment and production in several key industries such as electronics and telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, automobiles, IT hardware, and specialty steel. The government has utilized this scheme to strengthen domestic manufacturing capacity, attract investment, and enhance India’s participation in global supply chains.
Goyal stated that the government is also developing greenfield industrial smart cities under the ‘National Industrial Corridor Development Programme’ with the aim of providing modern infrastructure for manufacturing and investment.
Highlighting the reforms under the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ initiative, the Minister stated that regulations have been simplified and reduced compliance requirements while sector-specific measures have opened up new opportunities for investment and manufacturing.
He also stated that the ‘Open Network for Digital Commerce’ (ONDC) has crossed the milestone of 470 crore orders, reflecting the expanding scope of India’s digital commerce ecosystem; the government continues to promote ‘Make in India’ to strengthen domestic manufacturing, attract investment, and enhance India’s role in global production networks.
