India-Belgium Defence Deal Gets Fresh Momentum as Ministers Meet in New Delhi

New Delhi: On September 3, 2026, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a bilateral meeting in New Delhi with Belgium’s Minister of Defence and Foreign Trade, Theo Francken.

During the discussions, both nations conducted a comprehensive review of cooperation in the defence sector and agreed to further strengthen their partnership through defence cooperation dialogues, high-level visits, training, and capacity building. Both sides described mutual trust and respect as the strong foundation of India-Belgium relations.

Issues related to regional peace and security were also discussed during the meeting. Both ministers emphasized the need to enhance maritime security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region and reiterated their commitment to advancing the defense and industrial partnership.

This meeting was held alongside the high-level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever in New Delhi.
