Sirsa Alleges Inappropriate Remarks by Atishi During Special Assembly Session, Says AAP Leader Left House Midway

Date:

Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Sunday made serious allegations against AAP leader Atishi, claiming she used objectionable language during a special session of the Delhi Assembly convened to mark the 350th Martyrdom Day of Guru Teg Bahadur.

Addressing a press conference, Sirsa said the special session was called to pay tribute to Guru Teg Bahadur’s sacrifice, and several members of the Assembly spoke on the occasion in a respectful manner. He stated that proceedings were going smoothly until late afternoon. “Around 4 PM, when AAP member Atishi was given an opportunity to speak, she refused,” Sirsa alleged.

According to the minister, after this, Chief Minister addressed the House, followed by BJP leaders including Parvesh Verma. Sirsa claimed it was at this point that Atishi began interrupting the proceedings, demanding a discussion on pollution-related issues. “This was the time when she said something which I don’t have the courage to repeat here,” he said, describing the alleged remarks as highly inappropriate for the Assembly.

Sirsa further stated that he immediately objected to Atishi’s words on the floor of the House. He added that BJP leaders Kapil Mishra and Anil Sharma also raised strong objections to the alleged remarks. “After voices were raised against her language, Atishi left the House right away,” Sirsa claimed.

The Environment Minister alleged that since leaving the Assembly, Atishi has not returned and is “missing” from the proceedings. He accused the AAP leader of disrespecting the sanctity of the Assembly and diverting attention from a session meant to honour a revered Sikh Guru.

The Aam Aadmi Party has not yet issued an official response to Sirsa’s allegations. The controversy has added to the growing political tension between the ruling BJP and the opposition AAP in Delhi, with both sides frequently clashing over conduct inside the Assembly and governance issues.
