Jio Platforms’ Rs 30,213-Crore IPO Set to Become India’s Biggest-Ever Public Issue

Date:

New Delhi: The initial public offering (IPO) of Jio Platforms Limited, the digital and telecommunications arm of Reliance Industries, will open for subscription on October 21, 2026, and close on October 23. The company has set a price band of ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per share. At the upper end of the price band, the IPO is valued at ₹30,213 crore, potentially making it the largest IPO in India’s stock market history

The proposed issue is larger than Hyundai Motor India’s IPO of approximately ₹27,870 crore, which was launched in October 2024. Jio Platforms’ offering will be entirely a fresh issue, under which the company will issue up to 270 million new equity shares. At the lower end of the price band, the company could raise approximately ₹28,755 crore, while at the upper end, the amount could reach ₹30,213 crore.

The minimum bid for investors applying to the IPO is 12 shares. Accordingly, the minimum investment would be ₹12,780 at the lower end of the price band of ₹1,065 per share and ₹13,428 at the upper end of ₹1,119 per share. The actual application amount will depend on the bid price selected and the applicable terms and conditions.

Jio Platforms’ business spans telecommunications, digital technology and related services. Investors are likely to closely watch the company’s IPO, as the expansion of 5G, broadband and digital services in India could create opportunities for future business growth. However, assessing the company’s profitability, competitive landscape and future capital expenditure requirements will also be essential.

According to the company’s Red Herring Prospectus (RHP), the proceeds from the issue will primarily be used to repay the debt of its telecommunications subsidiary and for general corporate purposes. Investors should carefully review the financial statements, issue terms and risk factors outlined in the RHP before applying. The large size of an IPO does not, by itself, guarantee listing gains or better returns.
