NEET UG 2026 Updates: Exam Time Extended to 195 Minutes, Layout Made Simpler

Date:

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the duration of the Re-NEET UG-2026 exam on June 21 is now 15 minutes longer. It has been increased from 180 to 195 minutes (2:00 PM to 5:15 PM) to give students enough time to complete all required paperwork smoothly. The testing agency is making these changes to ensure the exam is fair, secure, and stress-free for all candidates.

The NTA made these changes based on feedback received from candidates over the past few years. They promise to make the NEET (UG)-2026 exam safe, fair, and stress-free for everyone taking it. Additionally, the agency stated that the space for rough work in the question paper booklet has been increased from two pages to four, giving candidates more room for calculations and diagrams.

The booklet design has been updated after it was reported that some students—particularly left-handers—faced difficulties with the old layout. Now, two pages for rough work are provided at the beginning, immediately following the instructions, while the remaining two pages are placed at the end. This new layout applies to both the English and regional language versions to ensure all candidates can work comfortably.

In a statement, the NTA said that even minor improvements to the exam design could have a positive impact on the candidates’ experience during the examination.

These changes make the exam smoother and safer for everyone. Candidates are advised to carefully read the instructions provided in the admit card and the information bulletin, and to cooperate with the examination staff for the smooth conduct of the examination.
