New Delhi Hosts NCRBC 2026, Highlights ESG-led Responsible Business Conduct as a Catalyst for Viksit Bharat

Date:

New Delhi: The fourth edition of the ‘National Conference on Responsible Business Conduct’ (NCRBC) 2026 commenced in New Delhi, the two-day conference focusing on strengthening ESG practices, sustainable governance, and responsible business models to support the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).

Organized by the School of Business Environment (SBE) of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, this two-day conference is themed “ESG-led Transformation for Viksit Bharat.” Policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, ESG professionals, and international experts came together at the event to discuss the future of responsible business practices. Addressing the inaugural session, NFRA Chairperson Mr. Nitin Gupta emphasized the need for trustworthy, reliable, and verifiable sustainability disclosures. He stated that the same level of rigor should be applied to ESG reporting as is applied to financial reporting.

Shri Gyaneshwar Kumar Singh, Director General and CEO of IICA, stated that ESG should not be limited merely to regulatory compliance but should instead become a strategic component of India’s economic development framework. He highlighted the evolution of India’s responsible business ecosystem tracing the journey from voluntary guidelines to the mandatory Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR) framework.

A high-level panel discussion on “ESG, Governance, and Board-Level Disclosures” was held, featuring representatives from SEBI, ONGC, CEEW, NSE, Kirloskar Industries, and ICAI. They discussed regulatory approaches, investment opportunities in the green economy, and the role of corporate intent in building trust.

More than 350 corporate leaders, policymakers, ESG professionals, and international delegates are participating in NCRBC 2026. The second day of the conference will focus on sector-specific ESG guidelines, responsible value chains, MSME sustainability, environmental parameters, and future reporting frameworks. This event is supported by partner organizations such as UNICEF, ACCA, Partners in Change, CEEW, WRI India, ICAI, GAIN, UN Women, and the International Labour Organization.
