New Delhi: On July 10, 2026, NITI Aayog organized a discussion with stakeholders at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi regarding the implementation of the SHANTI Act, 2025. Policymakers, experts, and industry representatives were invited to deliberate on the Act’s operational modalities.
This discussion was chaired by Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Member, NITI Aayog. Senior officials and experts from the government, industry, and scientific institutions participated in the event, including representatives from the MoP, CEA, NTPC, DAE, AERB, and NITI Aayog.
The technical discussions focused on three key pillars that are crucial for the successful implementation of this Act:
Legislative & Regulatory Framework: The discussion centred on the draft rules, regulatory framework, and FDI policy provisions outlined under the SHANTI Act, 2025. The initial technical session emphasized legal compliance and deliberated on ways to attract foreign investment while safeguarding national interests.
Finance, Insurance & Public Perception: Stakeholders deliberated on financial mechanisms, risk mitigation frameworks, and insurance solutions to facilitate the implementation of the Act. Discussions also focused on enhancing public awareness, community confidence, and acceptance of nuclear energy projects.
Manufacturing, Operations & Capacity Building: The main focus of this discussion was on implementing the Act by strengthening domestic manufacturing to build a robust nuclear ecosystem, ensuring operational readiness, and fostering strong supply chains and skill development.
Stakeholders offered various suggestions across three key areas, which will help strengthen the implementation framework for the SHANTI Act, 2025.
