The Delhi government has announced a major initiative to establish high-tech laboratories in four Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the capital, aiming to significantly enhance industry-ready skills and employability among students.

According to officials, the project is part of a broader push to modernise vocational education and ensure alignment with current industry standards and emerging technological requirements. The upgraded infrastructure will provide trainees with hands-on exposure to advanced tools, digital systems, and real-world industrial applications, bridging the gap between classroom learning and workplace expectations.

The four selected ITIs will be equipped with state-of-the-art labs focused on modern technologies such as power electronics, electric vehicles (EVs), automation systems, advanced manufacturing, and simulation-based training. The initiative is designed to make vocational training more practical, relevant, and outcome-driven, improving job readiness among youth.

Officials said the initiative is also aimed at strengthening application-based learning, allowing students to gain practical experience in sectors that are seeing strong future demand, including automotive technology, renewable energy systems, and industrial automation. The move is expected to help students transition smoothly into industrial jobs, apprenticeships, and self-employment opportunities.

The government has emphasized that the upgrade will transform ITIs into modern skill development hubs, ensuring that students are trained on equipment and processes currently used in industries. This, officials said, will significantly improve placement opportunities and technical proficiency.

The initiative reflects Delhi’s broader strategy to strengthen its vocational education ecosystem, with a focus on producing a workforce that is technically skilled, industry-ready, and capable of meeting evolving job market demands.
