According to officials, sandalwood trees take 12 to 15 years to reach maturity and now retail for between Rs 12 and Rs 15 lakh each. At this rate, 10,000 sandalwood trees are predicted to be worth between Rs 12,000 and Rs 15,000 crore when they are fully mature.
