To help residents facing problems in filing their advance property tax, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has set up helpdesks and tax collection counters in all zones.
The facilities will be functional from 8am to 8pm till June 30, including on the weekend. The property tax department also claimed to be working in close coordination with the IT department on a daily basis to deal with issues related to the operation of the website or the online payment process.
"The helpdesks and counters will be there in all zonal property tax offices for the convenience of taxpayers and to help them avoid the last-minute rush." "MCD is giving a rebate of 15% on the property tax for the current fiscal year if it is deposited on or before June 30," said an official, adding that there was no plan to extend the payment deadline.
The corporation is also holding multiple camps in residential areas, collecting cheques from resident welfare associations (RWAs) and asking residents to make almost the same payment as last year through cheques, if required.

"People, especially senior citizens who are finding difficulty in filing the tax online by themselves, are requested to make the payment with a 10% increase from last year to avoid the last-minute rush at zonal offices. The excess amount will be adjusted later, "said the official. "Our tax inspectors are in touch with the RWAs, sending reminders to secure maximum collection," he added.
