Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, spoke passionately about the ongoing Startup Mahakumbh, a major event showcasing India’s burgeoning startup ecosystem. Goyal emphasized the immense potential of the startup sector and highlighted the success of the event, which has attracted thousands of attendees and provided a platform for over 1,500 tech startups to exhibit their innovative ideas.

“I believe the time has come for Indian investors to recognize that this startup ecosystem holds immense potential,” Goyal said, noting the significant strides being made in the sector. He went on to share some key details of the Startup Mahakumbh, saying, “More than half the participants are exhibiting their ideas using pods. Over 1,500 tech startups have been given a chance to showcase their ideas for free.”

The event has seen impressive attendance numbers, with Goyal noting that yesterday’s turnout reached 27,000, and the figure for today was expected to surpass that. "Tomorrow's figure will likely cross one lakh," he predicted, underscoring the growing enthusiasm around the event and the startup ecosystem in India.

Goyal also took the opportunity to criticize the Congress party for not supporting the startup sector in the past. “The Congress never even imagined that the startup ecosystem would ever be encouraged… they only know how to criticize,” he remarked, adding that this negative thinking has held the country back. In contrast, Goyal emphasized that the current government’s focus on fostering innovation and entrepreneurship through positive thinking is driving the nation toward achieving big goals.

The Startup Mahakumbh is being hailed as a testament to the government’s commitment to nurturing India’s startup ecosystem and providing opportunities for innovation and growth, with Goyal’s remarks reinforcing the BJP-led government’s role in propelling the sector forward.
