President Droupadi Murmu Inaugurated the National Conference on Tribal Development and dedicated 75 Space Labs to Students Across the Country

President Droupadi Murmu today inaugurated the National conclave on Strengthening of Integrated Tribal Development Agencies and Integrated Tribal Development Projects in New Delhi. She virtually inaugurated Training Fab at the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru and 75 Space Labs in Eklavya Model Residential Schools.

The President said that the nation is moving forward to achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047. The holistic development of tribal communities constitutes an integral part of this objective. She urged tribal people to become aware of government schemes and actively benefit from them.

President Murmu inaugurated 75 Space Laboratories within the Eklavya Model Residential Schools for tribal students. These laboratories have been developed by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs in collaboration with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). The Social Responsibility Council also played a significant role in the development of these laboratories.

Emphasising the effective implementation of welfare and development programs for tribal communities, Honourable President Smt. Droupadi Murmu remarked, “The responsibility lies with all of you to ensure that welfare and development programs for tribal communities reach their villages and homes. By doing so, you can bring about a profound positive transformation in the lives of your tribal brothers and sisters.”

Arun Khurana, Head of the Social Responsibility Council, stated, “We are delighted to contribute to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs’ initiative to establish Space Labs and to be able to do something constructive for tribal students across the country.” He added, “We wish to express our gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking the initiative to provide quality education to children from tribal communities, and we aspire to walk shoulder-to-shoulder with him in realising his ‘Developed India by 2047’ vision.”

This event was organised as part of the ‘Janjatiya Garima Utsav 2026’ (Tribal Dignity Festival). The conference will focus on empowering the bodies responsible for tribal development across the country, encompassing areas such as governance reforms, convergence mechanisms, and technology-enabled service delivery. Representatives from 26 states and 4 Union Territories are participating in this conference.
