UPSC Prelims 2026: DMRC to Run Early Metro Services for UPSC Prelims 2026 Candidates on May 24

Date:

New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will run early morning trains on some lines on May 24, 2026. This decision has been taken to help candidates appearing for the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026. This will allow students to reach their examination centers on time without facing last-minute congestion or delays.

According to the DMRC, trains on the Delhi Metro Pink Line, Delhi Metro Magenta, and Delhi Metro Gray lines will begin running at 6:00 a.m., an hour earlier than scheduled. After the initial schedule, metro operations will resume as normal to handle the rush of passengers.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation stated that detailed station-wise timings and any last-minute operational adjustments will be shared through its official website, mobile platforms, and station announcements. Candidates have been advised to plan their journey in advance and reach metro stations well before the scheduled reporting time at examination centres.

The UPSC Prelims 2026, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission, is among the country’s most competitive examinations, drawing lakhs of candidates nationwide. On exam days, Delhi witnesses a sharp rise in public transport demand, particularly during early morning hours when candidates travel to centres spread across the capital and adjoining NCR regions.

To manage this surge, DMRC has regularly introduced special measures such as additional train frequency, deployment of extra staff at stations, and crowd control arrangements. The decision to introduce early services on selected lines is part of this broader strategy to ensure smooth passenger movement during high-demand events.

Authorities have also appealed to regular commuters who are not appearing for the examination to avoid unnecessary travel during peak morning hours on affected corridors, in order to reduce congestion and support smooth operations for candidates.

Thousands of candidates rely on the Metro to reach their exam centers on time. The early start of the Metro in the morning will make their travel easier and allow them to reach their exam centers on time. DMRC (Delhi Metro) is taking this step to provide better facilities to students during national-level examinations.

By running the metro early in the morning on specific routes, DMRC wants to make the journey of exam-appearing students easy and safe.
