Ahead of the launch of ‘Vikram-1’—India’s first privately developed orbital launch vehicle—Prime Minister Narendra Modi described it as a new, historic chapter in the nation’s space journey. Extending his best wishes to the Skyroot Aerospace team, he stated that this mission embodies the talent, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit of India’s youth and will inspire the next generation.
Best wishes to the Skyroot team
On Saturday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on the social media platform ‘X’ that Skyroot Aerospace would conduct the maiden launch of ‘Vikram-1’—India’s first privately developed orbital launch vehicle—at 11:30 AM. He noted that this four-stage rocket has been developed to provide rapid and on-demand launch services.
Impact of space sector reforms visible
The Prime Minister remarked that this mission is an excellent example of the talent, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit of the country’s youth. He stated that reforms in the space sector have opened up new opportunities for innovation and private enterprise. He expressed hope that ‘Vikram-1’ would scale new heights, create history, and inspire a new generation of innovators.
Appeal to the youth to watch the mission
PM Modi urged fellow citizens, especially the youth, to witness this historic mission. He also encouraged people to send their best wishes to the Skyroot Aerospace team using the hashtag ‘IndiaWithVikram1’.
India’s first private orbital launch vehicle
‘Vikram-1’ is India’s first privately developed rocket designed to place satellites into orbit. Its orbital adjustment module utilizes a fully 3D-printed liquid engine—marking the first time such technology has been used in an Indian orbital launch vehicle.
‘Mission Aagman’ to be the first orbital test flight
‘Mission Aagman’ marks Skyroot Aerospace’s first orbital test flight. This marks the first attempt by an Indian private company to reach Earth’s orbit using its own rocket, a feat considered a significant milestone for India’s private space sector.
Special Payload to Accompany the Mission
A small, gold-crafted rocket featuring miniature figurines of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, Sir C.V. Raman, and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam is being sent as part of this mission. Additionally, a lab-grown diamond named ‘Cosmic Bloom’ will be sent into space as an artistic payload. The mission will also carry a special card featuring best wishes from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the message ‘Vande Mataram’, and messages from supporters across the globe.
