Major Healthcare Milestone: Amit Shah Inaugurates New Max Smart Hospital Building in Delhi

New Delhi: On September 3, 2026, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated a new 400-bed tower at Max Smart Super Speciality Hospital in Saket, Delhi. With this expansion, the total capacity of the hospital complex has reached approximately 1,200 beds. The new tower will enhance the capacity to provide advanced tertiary and quaternary medical services to patients arriving from Delhi-NCR as well as various other parts of the country.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Transport, and Information Technology Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, and South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri were also present at the event.

The hospital offers treatment across more than 22 specialties, and the new building incorporates state-of-the-art technologies, most notably the Da Vinci Xi Surgical Robot and the Mako Total Knee Replacement Robot. According to the hospital management, this expansion marks a significant step towards simultaneously strengthening modern medical infrastructure, technology, and specialized medical services.

According to the company, Max Healthcare provided free treatment worth approximately ₹244 crore to 3.60 lakh patients during the last financial year. The group stated that 1.62 lakh students have so far benefited from higher education, training, and professional learning programs through its Max Institute of Medical Sciences. Meanwhile, in the last fiscal year, the group’s hospitals and healthcare facilities treated over 4 million patients from more than 800 cities and 180 countries. These included patients requiring complex and advanced medical treatments.

Currently, Max Healthcare Institute Limited operates a network of 21 healthcare facilities with a total capacity of over 6,100 beds. The group has a significant presence in Delhi-NCR and North India, offering tertiary and quaternary medical services at multiple locations, including Saket, Patparganj, Vaishali, Rajendra Place, Dwarka, Noida, and Shalimar Bagh.

Additionally, it operates healthcare facilities in Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Mohali, Bathinda, Dehradun, and Bhubaneswar. Apart from hospitals, the group also provides homecare services through Max@Home and pathology and diagnostic services through Max Lab.
