Indian Railways Begins Broadcast of Chhath Songs at Stations to Celebrate the Festival

Date:

As the nation gears up to celebrate the auspicious festival of Chhath Puja, Indian Railways has introduced a heartwarming initiative to enhance the festive experience of passengers. In a move aimed at spreading cultural joy and devotion, devotional Chhath songs are now being played at various major railway stations across the country.

The initiative seeks to connect travelers with the essence of the festival, making their journey more memorable and spiritually uplifting. Stations such as Patna, Danapur, Hajipur, Bhagalpur, Jamalpur, Sonpur, New Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Anand Vihar Terminal have been adorned with the sounds of traditional Bhojpuri and Maithili Chhath songs, evoking a sense of nostalgia and devotion among passengers. The soothing melodies are creating a sacred ambiance, allowing devotees traveling for the festival to feel closer to home and to the cultural roots of Chhath Puja.

Beyond the musical gesture, Indian Railways has also undertaken extensive measures to ensure passenger comfort and safety during the festive rush. Holding areas have been established at key stations, offering travelers a comfortable space to rest while waiting for their trains. To maintain order and ensure smooth operations, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel have been deployed in adequate numbers, and CCTV cameras are being used for continuous monitoring of passenger areas.

Railway officials stated that these steps are part of a larger effort to combine convenience with culture, allowing passengers to experience both comfort and spirituality during their journey. The initiative not only helps manage the festive crowd but also celebrates India’s deep-rooted traditions by bringing the sacred songs of Chhath Puja into the heart of railway travel.

By blending devotion with modern passenger amenities, Indian Railways has transformed railway stations into centers of cultural celebration — a gesture that truly reflects the spirit of “Har Ghar Chhath, Har Dil Chhath.”
