Highway Quality Under Spotlight as Gadkari Reviews Key Projects in Telangana, J&K, and Ladakh

New Delhi: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari reviewed the quality, maintenance, and progress of National Highway projects spanning 4,931 km in Telangana, 2,035 km in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, and 804 km in the Union Territory of Ladakh during separate review meetings held in New Delhi yesterday. Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Shri Harsh Malhotra was also present during the review.

A review was conducted based on media reports, feedback from social media platforms, and information received from officials of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), as well as project contractors.

The Minister instructed officials and executing agencies to strengthen monitoring mechanisms, ensure timely completion of work, and adopt modern construction techniques and best practices to ensure the durability of highway corridors, a comfortable travel experience, and long-term high performance.

Shri Nitin Gadkari also emphasized the need for comprehensive monsoon preparedness across all project areas, including measures such as improved drainage management, slope stabilization and safety works, and the implementation of rapid-response systems to tackle weather-related challenges.

The Minister reiterated the government’s resolve to develop world-class highway infrastructure across the country by completing projects on time, ensuring quality, and adopting modern engineering solutions. (PIB)
