New Delhi: India and South Korea have reiterated their commitment to enhancing cooperation in the fields of public administration and digital governance. Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, held bilateral talks today in New Delhi with South Korea’s Minister of the Interior and Safety, Jeon Hae-cheol.
The discussions primarily focused on cooperation between the two countries in the areas of digital governance, e-government, public administration, capacity building, and citizen-centric service delivery. Referring to the ‘Joint Strategic Vision Statement’ formulated during South Korean President Lee Jae-myung’s visit to India in April this year, Dr. Singh noted that the two nations share a ‘Special Strategic Partnership’ rooted in shared democratic values and a commitment to innovation and good governance.
During the meeting, Dr. Singh stated that both India and Korea are vibrant democracies sharing a commitment to similar values, heritage, and the rule of law. He said, “We are two major Asian economies with a special strategic partnership—one that is both historic and forward-looking.”
Dr. Singh also mentioned that both countries are actively negotiating to finalize a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster cooperation in the fields of public administration and government innovation. During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening people-to-people ties and institutional partnerships to address emerging challenges related to governance. They also reiterated their commitment to further enhancing India-South Korea cooperation to promote efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric governance.
