The 10th Thailand-India Defence Dialogue was held in Bangkok on June 16, 2026. The objective was to review all aspects of defence cooperation between the two countries and to exchange views on regional and global security issues of mutual interest. The dialogue was co-chaired by Admiral Nattapol Dewavanich, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Defence of Thailand, and Mr. Satyajit Mohanty, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
Both sides discussed the evolving security landscape in the Indo-Pacific region and shared their views on regional developments. They reiterated the importance of strengthening cooperation to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. The delegations reviewed the progress made in bilateral defense cooperation since the last interaction. The discussions covered ongoing military-to-military engagements, capacity-building initiatives, training exchanges, maritime cooperation, and other areas of mutual interest.
The ongoing cooperation in the defense industry between the two countries was also reviewed during the discussion. Both sides deliberated on opportunities to further deepen collaboration in defense manufacturing, research, innovation, and capacity building, with the aim of fostering a mutually beneficial partnership in the defense sector.
The delegations exchanged views on cooperation within regional and multilateral defense frameworks, including ASEAN-led mechanisms. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening practical cooperation and addressing shared security challenges through dialogue and collaboration.
The meeting concluded with discussions on future collaboration and the way forward for bilateral defense cooperation. India and Thailand elevated their bilateral relations to the status of a formal strategic partnership in 2025. (PIB)
