India vs Afghanistan ODI Opener Faces Delay Due to Unfavourable Weather Conditions

Date:

The Indian men’s cricket team is scheduled to play against the Afghanistan cricket team today at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, but things are not going in the right direction. Due to rainy weather, the toss has been delayed. The match was scheduled to start at 1:30 PM today, but due to rain, it was not started on time.

Good News for Fans

According to the weather forecast, rain is expected to disturb the match till evening, and after evening, rain is not expected. The good news is that the match can be played in the evening today. There is a high chance of a short-over match because of the rain. Experts are saying that instead of a 50-over match, a 20-over match can be played today if the rain allows the match.

Three Match Series

Today’s match is the first one-day international match in the three-match series. After this match, two more matches will be played between India and Afghanistan. 2nd one day international match will be played in Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana cricket stadium, Lucknow. The last and the 3rd ODI will be played in the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

Virat Kohli Not Playing

Star batsman of India, Virat Kohli, is not playing this match, and there are chances that he may skip the whole three matches due to injury. Virat was chosen in the team, but he didn’t feel fit and was unable to play the match. The 37-year-old batsman is suffering from a hamstring injury, which is called the distal semimembranosus tendon tear.

Kohli suffered this injury while playing the final match of IPL against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, reports suggest that he could play the final match between India and Afghanistan, but BCCI is in no hurry and wants him to be perfectly fit for the ODI series against England in July.
