Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi Arrives in India, Welcomed by PM Modi

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi received a warm welcome from Prime Minister Narendra Modi upon her arrival in Delhi. Prime Minister Modi welcomed the Japanese Prime Minister on the social media platform ‘X’. Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi reached New Delhi yesterday and was welcomed by the Minister of State in the Department of Atomic Energy of India, Dr. Jitendra Singh.

Prime Minister Takaichi’s visit focused on further strengthening India-Japan relations. Expressing confidence regarding the visit, PM Modi stated that the joint efforts of India and Japan would foster peace, stability, and prosperity globally, including in the Indo-Pacific region.

Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday evening for a three-day official visit. Welcoming her on the social media platform ‘X’, PM Modi wrote, “A very warm welcome to India, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. We are delighted to host you on your first visit to India, and I look forward to our substantive discussions on Thursday, which will further deepen the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership.”

PM Modi remarked that through the shared efforts of both nations, they would continue to advance peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific and beyond. Meanwhile, Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi also expressed her happiness upon arriving in India for this inaugural visit. She noted that the talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi would cover several key issues, including economic and energy security.

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “I have arrived in Delhi, the capital of India. This marks my first visit to India as the Prime Minister of Japan in nearly three years, and personally, it is my first-ever visit to the country.” The Japanese PM stated, “Discussions with Prime Minister Modi will cover critical issues such as economic security and energy security. Our objective is to deepen strategic cooperation between Japan and India in light of the current international situation, foster complementary collaboration, and further strengthen the Japan-India ‘Special Strategic and Global Partnership’.”

High-level talks between the Prime Minister and Prime Minister Modi are also scheduled during this three-day visit to India. Both leaders will participate in the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit. Discussions will focus on key areas including trade, investment, defence, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, automobiles, supply chains, and security in the Indo-Pacific region.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the visit to India would impart fresh momentum to economic, strategic, and industrial cooperation between the two nations and pave the way for a robust and sustainable economic partnership through the joint participation of the public and private sectors.
