Nationwide Celebration of Yoga Gains Momentum, Lakhs of Organisations Ready to Join PM Modi

Ahead of the 12th International Day of Yoga, a lot of enthusiasm is being shown throughout the country. More than 6 lakh organisations across the country have registered themselves on the Ministry of Ayush’s ‘Yoga Sangam’ portal. These responses show the interest of people in yoga and how yoga has evolved from merely a health practice into a broad national movement driven by public participation.

Mass Yoga Events Across the Country on June 21

On June 21, marking the International Day of Yoga, millions of people across the nation will practice Yoga together during the national event led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Organisations registered under the ‘Yoga Sangam’ initiative will host mass Yoga sessions at their respective locations, becoming part of this national campaign by adhering to the Common Yoga Protocol.

Increased Participation: From Schools to Social Organizations

According to the Ministry of Ayush, the pace of registration on the portal has accelerated recently. Schools, colleges, government institutions, private organisations, NGOs, and community groups are joining this campaign in large numbers. The objective of ‘Yoga Sangam’ is to take Yoga to the masses in every corner of the country and establish it as a shared national health movement.

Millions of Participants Joining via Digital Platform

The ‘Yoga Sangam’ portal has emerged as the digital backbone of this campaign. Through it, organisations are registering their programs, sharing details about event venues, and mobilising participants. The platform ensures nationwide coordination and widespread participation.

‘Yoga Sangam’ Campaign Reaches 778 Districts

The initiative has reached all states and Union Territories of the country, covering 778 districts. Data indicates that over 3.22 lakh government institutions, approximately 2 lakh educational institutions, over 16,000 private institutions, more than 5,000 NGOs, and 44,000 other organisations have registered on the portal.

West Bengal and Rajasthan Lead the Way

In terms of state-wise participation, West Bengal leads the list with over 2.76 lakh registered organisations. Rajasthan follows, with approximately 1.5 lakh registrations recorded. Significant participation is also being witnessed in states such as Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh.

‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’ is this year’s theme

The theme for International Yoga Day this year is “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” This theme highlights the utility of Yoga at every stage of life and conveys a message promoting a healthy, active, and balanced lifestyle.

Ministry of Ayush calls for maximum participation

The Ministry of Ayush has called upon organisations, institutions, and communities across the country to join this campaign. The Ministry states that the growing participation on the ‘Yoga Sangam’ portal symbolises India’s spirit of public participation and its collective commitment to health.

This initiative is transforming Yoga from a global movement into a community celebration and a national mass movement. It is considered a significant step towards building a healthy and empowered India through Yoga.
