Ayushman Bharat Scheme Crosses 43.52 Crore Cards; Over 11.69 Crore Treatments Approved

New Delhi: The Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) continues to expand its reach, with 43.52 crore Ayushman cards issued across the country so far, the government informed Parliament.

This includes 1.14 crore Ayushman Vaya Vandana cards issued for senior citizens aged 70 years and above.


Scheme Expands Coverage to More Beneficiaries

The government has steadily widened the scope of the scheme beyond economically weaker sections.

Key expansions include:

  • Inclusion of ASHA workers

  • Anganwadi workers and helpers

  • Coverage for nearly 6 crore senior citizens aged 70+, irrespective of socio-economic status

This expansion aims to ensure broader access to healthcare services.


Over 36,000 Hospitals Empanelled Nationwide

To strengthen healthcare access, a total of 36,229 hospitals have been empanelled under the scheme, including:

  • 19,483 government hospitals

  • 16,746 private hospitals

This network enables beneficiaries to access quality treatment closer to their homes.


Cashless Treatment Across 1,961 Procedures

Under the latest Health Benefit Package, beneficiaries can avail fully cashless treatment for:

  • 1,961 medical procedures

  • Across 27 medical specialties

So far:

  • 11.69 crore hospital admissions have been approved

  • Around ₹1.73 lakh crore has been spent on treatments


Digital Health Ecosystem Expanding Rapidly

The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) is also gaining momentum, strengthening digital healthcare infrastructure in India.

Key achievements include:

  • Over 86 crore ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts) created

  • More than 90 crore health records linked

  • Over 2.5 lakh healthcare facilities using ABDM-enabled software

This digital push is improving transparency, accessibility, and efficiency in healthcare delivery.


Government Reaffirms Commitment to Affordable Healthcare

Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav shared these details in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.

He reiterated that the government’s goal is to ensure affordable, accessible, and quality healthcare for every citizen, with Ayushman Bharat playing a crucial role in achieving this vision.


Financial Relief for Millions of Families

The scheme has significantly reduced out-of-pocket healthcare expenses and provided financial protection to millions of families across India.

Ayushman Bharat continues to strengthen the country’s healthcare security framework while promoting inclusive and accessible medical services.
