Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday emphasised the need for stronger societal and institutional support for Divyangjans, urging efforts to bring them into the mainstream. Speaking at an event in the national capital, she highlighted the resilience, determination and positive spirit shown by persons with disabilities in overcoming everyday challenges.

“When I see those who were given some disabilities by God, I see them accepting every challenge in life with all their energy, mind and courage,” the Chief Minister said. She noted that despite physical limitations, many Divyangjans continue to lead independent lives and carry out their work with commitment and confidence.

“I see them leading their life and doing their work with full energy. So, it becomes even more important for us that we extend our helping hand to all Divyangjans and bring them to the mainstream,” Gupta added.

The Chief Minister underlined the responsibility of governments, institutions and society at large to ensure equal opportunities, accessibility and dignity for persons with disabilities. She stressed that inclusive policies, better infrastructure and community support systems are essential to empower Divyangjans and enable their full participation in social and economic life.

Her remarks were welcomed by attendees, with many calling for sustained policy focus and awareness initiatives to promote inclusion and sensitivity toward persons with disabilities.
