In Rajasthan, the "Congress chhodo" mission is raging as Rahul's yatra begins Day 19.

As the political drama in Rajasthan heats up with 82 MLAs resigning from the state assembly, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi continues to lead the party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.

The political crisis in Rajasthan erupted as the MLAs resigned from the state assembly after speculation rose that Sachin Pilot would take over as the next chief minister if Ashok Gehlot wins the Congress presidential election.

Meanwhile, the party's yatra entered its 19th day on Monday and resumed from Kerala’s Palakkad district. Party leaders including Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Hooda, AICC Punjab incharge Harish Chaudhary, and Kerala MLA K Muraleedharan joined Rahul.

The Indian athlete Abdulla Aboobacker, who won a silver medal for triple jump at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, also joined the yatra on Monday.

The agenda for the day includes honouring a statue of Mahatma Gandhi by paying floral tributes. The yatra will halt for the day in Palakkad district’s Koppam area.

'CONGRESS CHHODO' TREND

The political crisis in Rajasthan comes just days after the Goa Congress Legislature Party (CLP) merged into the BJP after 8 out of 11 Congress MLAs joined the ruling party in the Centre.

Meanwhile, in Rajasthan, all is not well as Congress leaders loyal to chief minister Ashok Gehlot resigned from the state assembly ahead of the legislature party meeting scheduled for Sunday. The MLAs are opposing the appointment of a new Rajasthan CM by those who rebelled against the Gehlot government in July 2020.

This comes after speculation rose that Sachin Pilot would become the next chief minister after Ashok Gehlot resigned to contest for the Congress Presidential post.
