New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two major National Highway projects on Sunday, collectively valued at nearly ₹11,000 crore, marking a significant step towards decongesting Delhi and improving connectivity in the National Capital Region.

The projects include the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II). Both have been developed as part of the government’s comprehensive strategy to cut travel time, reduce vehicular congestion, and provide seamless connectivity to commuters.

The 10.1-km Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway, constructed at a cost of around ₹5,360 crore, is set to become a critical urban transport link. It will not only reduce traffic pressure on key city roads but also provide multi-modal connectivity to major transport hubs, including Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, the Delhi Metro’s Blue and Orange Lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka cluster bus depot.

The Alipur to Dichaon Kalan stretch of UER-II, costing approximately ₹5,580 crore, will serve as another vital lifeline for commuters. With additional links to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, this project is expected to significantly ease traffic flow on Delhi’s Inner Ring Road, Outer Ring Road, and high-congestion points such as Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-09.

Officials highlight that these projects will not only enhance connectivity between Delhi and its surrounding regions but also reduce pollution levels by cutting idle vehicular time on congested stretches. Together, they are anticipated to transform urban mobility in Delhi, making daily travel smoother and more efficient.

With these new infrastructure upgrades, the government aims to provide long-term relief to commuters while supporting Delhi’s growth as a modern, globally connected capital.
