New Delhi: After years of delays, the long-pending Pragati Maidan Underpass‑5 is finally back on track following the grant of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Indian Railways, clearing the last major hurdle in the project. Authorities now aim to complete the underpass by December 2026.

The underpass, part of the Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor, had been stalled due to the lack of railway approval and complex engineering challenges under active railway tracks. With the NOC in place, construction is set to resume at full pace.

Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma confirmed that senior officials coordinated with railway authorities to resolve pending issues, allowing the project to move forward. The revised construction plan includes foundation stabilization, structural reinforcement, and updated execution methods to ensure safety and durability.

Once completed, Underpass‑5 is expected to ease congestion at the Ring Road–Bhairon Marg junction, provide signal-free connectivity between Ring Road, Mathura Road, ITO, and surrounding areas, and significantly improve travel for commuters across East, Central, and Southeast Delhi.

The Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor project is part of a larger city initiative to enhance traffic flow and connectivity around key commercial and exhibition hubs in the capital.

Authorities emphasized that the renewed push on this project will provide much-needed traffic relief for thousands of daily commuters who have long faced bottlenecks in the area.
