Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Reached Office by Metro as Part of The ‘Monday Metro’ Campaign, Interacted with Commuters

Date:

Under the ‘Monday Metro’ campaign—initiated by the Delhi government in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal—Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta travelled to her office by metro today. CM Gupta completed her entire commute from her residence to the Chief Minister’s Office using public transportation. During this journey, she utilised both bus and metro services.

While travelling by metro, the Chief Minister interacted with fellow passengers and listened to their concerns. Many passengers also took the opportunity to take selfies and photographs with the Chief Minister. CM Gupta did not disappoint anyone and engaged with everyone in a very cordial atmosphere.

Recently, Prime Minister Modi had appealed to the public to conserve petrol and diesel and to increase their usage of public transportation. Responding to this appeal, many people across the country have opted to leave their private vehicles behind and have begun utilising public transport instead.

Acting on this very appeal by the Prime Minister, the Delhi government has launched the ‘Monday Metro’ campaign. Under this initiative, the Delhi Chief Minister, along with all ministers and officials, travels to the office by metro every Monday while simultaneously appealing to the general public to conserve petrol and diesel.

As part of this campaign, Prime Minister Modi and his ministers have also significantly downsized their official convoys. In addition to the Prime Minister, other ministers—including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman—have also reduced the size of their convoys compared to previous levels.
