Education Ministry Collaborates With Four Public Sector Banks to Enhance CBSE Payment System

Date:

Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan held detailed discussions with senior officials from four major public sector banks—State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, and Indian Bank—regarding improvements to the Central Board of Secondary Education’s payment gateway system.

During the meeting, the Union Education Minister emphasized the need for a robust, reliable, and student-friendly payment system that encompasses post-examination services—such as re-evaluation, obtaining photocopies of answer sheets, and other fee-based procedures.

Strong Payment Protocol

He directed the banks to assist the CBSE in establishing strong payment protocols to ensure timely transactions, expedite the resolution of payment-related processes, and facilitate automated refunds for excess or failed payments. He further instructed the banks to collaborate closely with the CBSE and to fortify the payment gateway infrastructure through advanced technical security measures, real-time monitoring, and a swift grievance redressal mechanism.

Union Education Minister Pradhan urged senior officials to accord this initiative the highest priority so that students do not have to face technical glitches or payment failures in the future. He called upon the banks to ensure smooth, secure, and efficient digital transactions.

Implementation of Advanced Protocols

During their interaction with the Union Education Minister, the four banks assured him of their full support and expressed their commitment to implementing advanced protocols and technical upgrades at the earliest, in coordination with the CBSE.

Earlier, on May 24, 2026, Mr Pradhan had held discussions with Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman regarding the difficulties and technical issues faced by students following the declaration of CBSE results and during the re-evaluation processes.
