Amit Shah Announces Launch of PM Modi’s Book on Emergency at ‘Aapatkaal Ke 50 Saal’ Event

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing the program titled ‘Aapatkaal Ke 50 Saal’ in Delhi, announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has authored a new book focusing on the struggles, sacrifices, and transformations that emerged during and after the Emergency period in India.

PM Modi has written a book on the Emergency. It reflects not only the pain and oppression faced during those 21 months but also the resilience of Indian democracy. The book will be launched tomorrow,” Shah said.

The program marks 50 years since the imposition of Emergency on June 25, 1975, under the Congress-led government headed by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Shah emphasized that the Emergency was a deliberate assault on democratic values, and the book aims to highlight both the historical truths and the inspiration drawn from those who resisted the regime.

According to Shah, the book offers detailed insights into how the Emergency affected ordinary citizens, journalists, activists, and opposition leaders — many of whom were imprisoned — and how the Bharatiya Janata Party's ideological forerunners played a pivotal role in defending constitutional values.

The announcement has generated anticipation among political observers and historians eager to examine PM Modi’s personal and political reflections on one of India’s most controversial political periods.
