BJP Spokesperson Condemns Assassination Attempt on Sukhbir Singh Badal, Criticizes AAP’s Handling of Punjab’s Law and Order

The recent assassination attempt on Sukhbir Singh Badal, the senior leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), has sparked widespread condemnation, with BJP National Spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill leading the charge against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab. Speaking on the incident, Shergill called the attempt “worrying, disturbing, and indeed shocking,” and took aim at the ruling AAP government for its alleged failure to maintain law and order in the state.

Shergill’s remarks came after a bullet was fired at Sukhbir Singh Badal while he was at the Golden Temple in Amritsar, a sacred site for millions of Sikhs. The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of prominent political figures and the escalating violence in Punjab, which has witnessed a series of violent incidents in recent months.

"The assassination attempt on Sukhbir Singh Badal is deeply concerning," Shergill said. "The question we must ask is: when will the Aam Aadmi Party wake up to the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab? How many more lives must be put at risk before Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal take notice of the crisis unfolding in the state?"

Shergill went on to list a series of violent events that have shaken Punjab under the AAP government, including the killing of popular singer Sidhu Moosewala, the murder of businessmen in Jalandhar and Ludhiana, the assassination of a policeman, and an RPG attack on a Mohali Police Station. He also referenced the earlier killings of two Kabaddi players, further underscoring what he described as the growing lawlessness in the state.

"Under AAP’s watch, Punjab has turned into a playground for extremists, criminals, and extortionists," Shergill charged. "Instead of fulfilling its promise to make Punjab a hub of development, the AAP government has completely surrendered to criminals."

The BJP spokesperson also raised concerns over the potential links between the AAP government and criminal elements in Punjab. "What is the nexus between Kejriwal-Bhagwant Mann and these extremists and criminals? Why has crime surged in Punjab since AAP took over? The people of Punjab deserve answers," Shergill said.

The BJP leader further called for the resignation of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, stating that every Punjabi citizen is questioning whether the state is "slipping into dark times" under the current administration. "The situation is out of control, and it is high time that Bhagwant Mann takes responsibility for the safety and security of the people of Punjab," Shergill asserted.

The attack on Sukhbir Singh Badal has reignited a fierce political debate over the state’s governance and the rising tide of violence, with opposition parties continuing to hold AAP accountable for the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab. As investigations into the assassination attempt continue, the political fallout is expected to intensify, putting further pressure on the AAP government in the state.
